Scouting News Subscriptions Sag

The Scouting News is reaping the sour fruit of its misguided behavior. The Boycott has been more effective than we could have imagined. Their web site is down today, probably for lack of payment because as the graph below shows, their page views are down precipitously from the same time last year. No page views, no income – no income, no web site! Thanks to all of you who support this important grass-roots effort and let’s keep the heat on. Don’t support sites that prey on the pride and hopes of loving families, don’t pay for services which claim to increase your athlete’s visibility and success, and don’t support any business that manipulates children or their parents for financial gain. Athletes get what they earn on the playing field or ice – not based on what predatory disreputable services say about them. The graph below is not a fabrication, see for yourself.

Subscriptions Dag, Page Views Plummet

  1. Thank you for publishing this information. Our son received an e-mail asking him to join and of course he was very excited. I looked into things further and found your site. Anyone can recommend a player to the e-scouting report.
I just got off the phone with Darren Jensen, who implied I was an idiot not to have our son in his publication.
It didn’t seem realistic to me that scouts would be interested in an AE player (mind you, we think he’s great!!). There’s still lots of room for our son to improve, and if he does I think the scouts will be knocking at our door, not the other way around.

    • Good for you, Kim. I gurantee you do NOT need to pander to these people in order for your child to succeed in this sport. They are nobodies who prey on the pride of parents and egos of youngsters. Real scouts actually go to see players on the ice – they don’t spend time reading about them in “publications” like this one. If you find yourself involved with a supposed “scout” who reveals he is or has been in any way associated with The Scouting News, RUN the other way as fast as you can. These guys are selfish pricks who could care less about you and your son. What’s worse, they actually go to the trouble of flaming you and attempting to blacklist you if you speak out publically against them. Don’t worry, though. They just want you to think they are connected. They are totally impotent.

  2. Every now and then I check my son’s email for spam and virus. He is 12 by the way. And I see this email sent by Darren Jensen from The Scouting News. I felt excited and very uncomfortable at the same time. First of all, my son is only 12 and second of all, how in the world did he get hold of my son’s email address?

    • The Scouting News people troll the internet and other sources for contact information, Kianna. They impersonate kids or trusted adults in order to find information about youth hockey players that they can publish on their web site. When they publish something flattering, they hope you’ll want to read more and that you will purchase a subscription. That’s basically their entire business method unless you count the scurrilous mudslinging and blacklisting they will attempt if you ever say anything remotely negative about anything they write. Don’t walk – run the other way and don’t give these nuts one dime of your hard-earned money.

  3. While I can’t speak on behalf of “Benny”, who I might add just sounds like a complete idiot, I can tell you that I know Darren Jensen personally, and I don’t appreciate you referring to him as a “nut”. Darren did previously work with The Scouting News, but Benny would never listen to any of his suggestions to improve things. Darren is a wonderful man! He does NOT impersonate kids or trusted adults as you had implied! There is not a mean a mean bone in this man’s body, and the fact that you feel it necessary to attack him makes you NO better than Benny! I can guarantee you Darren has never done anything personally to you, and if calling these families is a crime, than you better start going after a lot of other scouting organizations as well. Like I said… Benny does sound like an idiot, but I know for a fact that Darren Jensen is a hard working, decent human being that would gladly give anyone in need the shirt off his back.

    • Michelle, it is apparent from your comment that you have not read many if any of the posts on this blog. If you find a single derogatory or untruthful reference to Darren Jensen, post a comment with a link to it, or if you’re not good with links tell us the date and title of the post. We’ll check it out and issue an apology on the front page which is more than The Scouting News has ever done. Darren Jensen’s only transgression is that he failed to see Benny and The Scouting News for the complete scam that it isand perhaps unknowingly participated in the victimization of parents who love their children and the dreams of young athletes.. If Mr. Jensen is no longer associated with TSN, we congratulate and applaud him. Better late than never. This Boycott has never had anything to do with Darren Jensen. We invite you to actually read the posts, and we are confident you will understand and agree.
